Hi Shadi, you seem unwilling to answer this question on Twitter so I’ll pose it here: what part of the academic definition of fascism sounds like it doesn’t fit De Santis? “ Fascism may be defined as a form of political behavior marked by obsessive preoccupation with community decline, humiliation, or victim-hood and by compensatory cults of unity, energy, and purity, in which a mass-based party of committed nationalist militants, working in uneasy but effective collaboration with traditional elites, abandons democratic liberties and pursues with redemptive violence and without ethical or legal restraints goals of internal cleansing and external expansion.” sounds like it fits De Santis to me!

If DeSantis makes it to the general election, I will enthusiastically have the yard sign and bumper sticker. Any suggestion of illiberalism on his part is minuscule compared to that of the Democratic/big tech/intelligence agency/propaganda/censorship machine constantly blowing bs in our faces right now.

And last election I had the Buttigieg sign, if that gives you any idea the degree of my disillusionment with the Democratic Party. I suspect I’m not alone.
